The project area is located to the south of Kastamonu province, at the 20th kilometer of the Kastamonu-Ankara highway. The purpose of the project is to provide irrigation for an area of 11,553 hectares and to meet a significant portion of Kastamonu province's annual drinking water needs. The dam, constructed with concrete-faced gravel fill, has a height of 107.80 meters from the foundation, and the total fill volume is 3,549,000 m³
